Monica Anoa’i ‘s Early Life
Monica was born to her parents, Afa Anoa’i, a famous and retired professional wrestler and WWE champion. Monica’s mother is called Lyn, and she has four siblings, one sister and three brothers, who all took after their father and pursued wrestling as a career. Although Monica did not become a wrestler, she was married to a wrestler Gary Albright.
Monica was blessed with three children before Gary died, taking care of them even after her husband’s death. There are no records of the year of birth of Monica’s children nor what they are doing now.
Monica Anoa’i Father
Afa Anoa’i is the father of Monica. Monica’s father was a Samoan professional wrestler who started his wrestling career in the earlier 1970s. Rocky Johnson and Peter Maivia, the father and grandfather of Dwayne Johnson, trained Monica Anoia’s father when he started his wrestling career.
After starting his career, Monica anoia’s father brought in his brother Sika, and they formed the Wild Samoans, tag team. The team won three WWWF championships and many other regional titles. Unfortunately, Monica’s uncle Sika got injured in 1983, and he brought in his son Samu, and they remained a team till 1984.
Monica Anoia’s father retired, and he became the manager of the Samoan Swat Team formed by his son Samu and nephew Fatu. Besides wrestling, Monica’s father was also featured in a few movies.
Monica Anoia’s Late Husband
The late wrestler Gary Albright was the husband of Monica Anoa’i. Gary was born on May 18, 1963, in the United States and was a member of the Anoa’i family. Monica’s late husband became famous for his work in Japan as a professional wrestler. Gary was a two-time World Tag Team Champion for All Japan Pro Wrestling.
Monica’s husband started wrestling while in high school in Billings, Montana. He was the state champion in 1980, and he went to wrestle in the NCAA for the university of Nebraska. After graduating, he started training for a professional wrestling career.
Gary Albright was lucky in 1988 when he got his wrestling breakthrough and was signed with Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling out of Calgary, Canada.
Monica Anoia’s husband died on January 2000 after collapsing in the ring. The star was working an indie show when he took a bulldog in the ring. After collapsing, attempts were made to rescue him, but he died a few minutes after being removed from the ring.
The medical experts explained that the cause of his death was a heart attack from his diabetic condition. He died at the age of thirty-six years and left three children.
